Career

He began his directing career by directing Mani Ratnam’s debut Kannada movie Pallavi Anu Pallavi starring Anil Kapoor as the lead. The film didn’t do well for the viewers, however, he won his first prize for the Best Screenplay of the administration of Karnataka. Then he directed his debut Kollywood film titled Pagal Nilavu starring Murali and Revathi as the main characters.

This film was an enormous success, and it marks an important breakthrough in his career as a director. He was the director of Idhaya Kovil in the year 1985. This film also was an enormous success and made a huge impact on box office collections. The film directs by him Mouna Ragam with Mohan and Revathi in the lead roles.
