Vladimir Putin mother worked in a factory as was his father, a soldier for the Soviet Navy. He was a member of the submarine fleet from the 1930s in the beginning. Early Life
He was born in Leningrad (now St. Petersburg), Russia, on the 7th of October 1952. He was raised by their family members in a commune living space and attended a local high school and grammar school in which he discovered a passion for sports.
After finishing his studies at Leningrad State University with a law degree in 1975, Putin began his career with the KGB as an intelligence officer. Based primarily on the border of East Germany, he held the position until 1990, after which he was discharged as a lieutenant colonel.
Early Career
He worked for about 15 years as an international intelligence officer in the KGB (Committee for State Security) which included six years working in Dresden, East Germany. Vladimir Putin retired from operational KGB service in the year 1990, with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He then went back to Russia to be the guardian for Leningrad State University and had responsibility for the university’s international relations.
Then he became an advisor to Sobchak who was the first elected by democratic means to be the mayor of St. Petersburg. He was able to gain the trust of the city’s mayor, Sobchak, and is renowned for his ability to complete tasks.
