Bianca Blair Crawford, born Bianca Nicole Blair on April 9, 1989, is an American professional wrestler who has signed with WWE. She currently performs on SmackDown as Bianca Belair. Belair, a former track and field athlete made her professional wrestling debut in WWE NXT where she competed on multiple occasions for the NXT Women’s Championship.
She was drafted to WWE Smackdown and won the 2021 women’s, Royal Rumble. This made her the second African-American celebrity after The Rock to win a Royal Rumble match. She defeated Sasha Banks to win the WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship at Wrestlemania 37. This made her the first Black woman to headline Wrestlemania.

The Lady champ finds inspiration in her family tree. Bianca Belair was raised in a middle-class family and had a lot of exposure at an early age. Her family includes women and men who broke new ground during Civil Rights Movement. Her lineage includes many trailblazers. Shelter, clothing, and housing weren’t an issue. They had enough food to provide for every member of their home.
Early Life
Blair attended Austin-East Magnet High School, in Knoxville, Tennessee. There, she excelled in track and field. Blair competed in the hurdles as a track and track athlete. Her six-year track career, which Sean Hurd of ESPN called “volatile,” saw her attend three universities.
After attending the University of South Carolina, she then attended Texas A&M University. She did not compete for a year before starting her college career at the University of Tennessee. There, she was All-SEC and All-American, as well as being named to both the SEC’s academic honor roll in 2011 and 2012.
She was also a CrossFit competitor, and powerlifter and appeared in RX magazine and Femme Rouge magazine as well as CrossFit.com. Blair had to quit CrossFit because of intercostal chondritis (also known as shifting rib syndrome).
Education
Austin-East Magnet was her high school in Knoxville. She participated in many sports, including track. Gradually, she attended Texas A&M University and the University of South Carolina. After one year of not competing, she transferred to the University of Tennessee.
As a member of the track team, she competed in the 400 and 100 hurdles at U.T.
Personal Life
Blair, a fellow professional wrestler Kenneth Crawford better known as Montez Foreman, announced her engagement to Kenneth Crawford on June 9, 2017. She married on June 23, 2018, Blair, a former partner of Crawford, is Crawford’s stepmother.
Professional Career
Bianca Belair, a University of Tennessee graduate, joined CrossFit in the capacity of a powerlifter and competitor. After suffering an injury, doctors diagnosed her with Slipping Rib Syndrome. This is a condition where the lower ribs move slightly more than normal and cause pain. She was able to appear in Femme Rouge and RX, though.
Bianca left CrossFit to become a sales representative at an Atlanta flavoring company. In 2016, Bianca applied for WWE prospects and was fortunate to be granted a trial. On 12 April 2016, she signed a contract for WWE. She was assigned to the WWE Performance Center in Orlando Florida by WWE.
