Plot
To apprehend Abdul Salim, the trusted associate of India’s most notorious terrorist Ibrahim Qureshi, the chief of RAW (Research and Analysis Wing), Kulkarni, enlists the services of agent Arjun and his skilled team. Their mission is to capture Salim and gather crucial information that could lead to dismantling Qureshi’s network.
As the operation unfolds, Arjun and his team strategically neutralize all the guards, successfully apprehending Salim. However, in a twist of events, Arjun assumes a new identity as a banker named Ramakrishna and resumes his normal life. Meanwhile, Kulkarni informs Arjun that Salim is scheduled to be transferred to a high-security prison as per official orders.

In February 2019, Gopichand initiated his 26th project titled “Chanakya,” which served as the directorial debut of Tamil director Thiru in Telugu cinema. The film featured Mehreen Pirzada as the leading lady. The shooting commenced in Jaipur during the same month. Notably, Zareen Khan joined the cast to portray a significant role, making her debut in Telugu films.

On October 5, 2019, “Chanakya” was released theatrically worldwide. Additionally, the film was dubbed and released in Hindi on television and YouTube by Wide Angle Media Pvt. Ltd. on December 27, 2020. Furthermore, the film was dubbed in Malayalam as “Agent Chanakya” and released in 2020.

The Hans India awarded “Chanakya” a rating of 2.5 stars out of 5, describing it as a well-treated story presented in an interesting manner. On the other hand, Neeshita Nyayapati, writing for The Times of India, gave the film a rating of 2 stars out of 5. Nyayapati mentioned that “Chanakya” appeared to be a meandering drama that seemed uncertain about whether it wanted to be a serious spy-thriller or a commercial drama with a mix of various elements.
