Cyrus Mistry, the former Chairman of Tata Group was killed in an accident on the roads of Palghar close to Mumbai on the 4th of September 2022. Mistry was 54 years old and traveling between Ahmedabad from Ahmedabad to Mumbai in a Mercedes Car.
According to the police, the incident occurred at about 3.15 pm, while Cyrus Mistry was traveling to Mumbai from Ahmedabad. The incident took place on a bridge that crossed the Surya River. It appears to be an accident.

He was married to Rohiqa Chagla, daughter of lawyer Iqbal Chagla, and the grandchild of the jurist M.C. Chagla. Iqbal Chagla also strategized the way forward in the case of Cyrus Mistry in the legal dispute with Tata Sons. Cyrus Mistry and Rohiqa Chagla have two sons Firoz Mistry and Zahan Mistry.
Education
He was educated at the highly regarded Cathedral & John Canon School in South Mumbai. He was a student at Imperial College London and was awarded the degree of Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering from the University of London in 1990.
Mistry then went on to study at The London Business School and was awarded the International Executive Masters in Management from the University of London in 1996.
Career
In September 2006 he joined the board of Tata Sons, a year after his father’s retirement from the company. He was Director of Tata Elxsi Limited from September 24, 1990, until the 26th of October, 2009, and also as a Director at Tata Power Co. Ltd until September 18, 2006. 2013 was the year that he was appointed the Chairman of Tata Sons.
He is also Chairman of all important Tata Companies including Tata Motors, Tata Steel, Tata Consultancy Services, Tata Teleservices, Tata Power, Tata Global Beverages along Tata Chemicals.
Net Worth
He held an 18.4 percent share of Tata Sons, through his company, Cyrus Investments Ltd. In the year of 2018, Cyrus Mistry’s net worth was estimated at $10 billion. He was also a part of the National Integration Council.
Cyrus Mistry and Ratan Tata’s Relationship
Mistry is the sixth chair of the Tata Group which was a conglomerate that was founded over 150 years ago. It was the second chairman not named Tata. He was the brother-in-law of Noel Tata, half-brother of Mistry’s predecessor as chair Ratan Tata.

Death
He who succeeded Ratan Tata as the chairman of Tata Sons but was later dismissed in India’s highest-profile boardroom coup, died in a crash that occurred in the Maharashtra city of Palghar in the city on Sunday afternoon, according to police. He was 54. The man aged 54. Mistry was traveling from Gujarat’s Udwada to Mumbai in a Mercedes automobile and was also a passenger in a Mercedes car, the newspaper reported.
Firoz Mistry
He has two surviving children. They are Firoz Mistry and Zahan Mistry. They are the heirs of the estates and wealth of their fathers.
Car
The car struck an abutment on the bridge that crosses the Surya River which killed Mistry (54) as well as Jahangir Pandole right on the spot. The vehicle was driven by a Mumbai-based Gynecologist Anahita Pandora (55). Her husband and she suffered serious injuries during the crash.
