Draupadi Murmu is an Indian politician who is known for being chosen as a candidate of the National Democratic Alliance for the 2022 Indian Presidential. She was born on 20 June 1958.

Introduction

Draupadi Murmu was the 9th Governor of Jharkhand. From 2015 to 2021, she diligently served the duties of the governor. She is popularly known as the first governor of Jharkhand to have completed a term of five years. And now, she is the first person who belongs to the Scheduled Tribe caste and got a nomination for the post of President of India.

According to the reports of BJP Chief JP Nadda, the board came around 20 names for deciding the nominee for the coming presidential election. Moreover, the board had in mind to pick a woman who is from the East and has a tribal background. It is said that Smt Draupadi Murmu will file her nomination on 25th June 2022.

 Early Life

Draupadi Murmu was born on 20 June 1958 and she is currently 64 years old. She was born into a family of village headmen who worked under the Panchayati Raj system. Her father Biranchi Narayan Tudu was a resident of the Baidaposi Village of the Mayurbhanj district. Being a tribal woman, her life was always difficult and filled with hardships.

She not only faced societal oppression but also was struck with a series of misfortune and personal losses. She started working as a teacher before she entered into state politics. Belonging to a very remote area in Odisha, it was surprising as well as very delightful for her that National Democratic Alliance elected her as their presidential candidate for the upcoming elections.

Family

Draupadi Murmu married Shyam Charan Murmu, a bank official who passed away in 2014. She was the mother of two boys, one of whom bore the name Laxman Murmu and passed away in 2013. In 2009, she lost her other son. She said in an interview that she struggled with depression after the deaths of her boys.

Biranchi Narayan Tudu, Draupadi’s father, was a farmer known by his given name. Both of her parents and both of her grandparents held the position of the headman in the community. She is the sister of Bhagat Tudu and Sarani Tudu, who are her brothers.

Husband

Draupadi Murmu married Bank Officer Shyam Charan Murmu. Right now Mrs. Draupadi’s husband is no more in the world as he died earlier in 2014. She is also a mother of three kids. Draupadi after getting married to her husband has given birth to two sons and one daughter.

But unfortunately, her two sons died. Her son Laxman Murmu died in 2009 whereas her other son whose name is not available in the media died in 2013. But her daughter Itishri Murmu is supporting her now.
