Ishita Dutta was born on the 26th of August 1990, in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand to a Bengali Hindu family. She has a father named Tapan Dutta while her mother’s name is Shikha Dutta. She has an older sister named Tanushree Dutta who is part of the family.

Ishita became famous in Ajay Devgn’s cult film Drishyam which was written by Nishikant Kamat. She played the lead role as Anju Salgaonkar (elder daughter of Ajay Devgn as well as Shriya Saran’s character) in the movie.
