Jaikishan Kakubhai Shroff (born 1 February 1957) popularly referred to by the name Jackie Shroff, is an Indian actor and model from the past. He has been involved in the Bollywood industry for more than forty years, and at the time of writing, has appeared in more than 220 movies in 13 languages including Hindi, Tamil, Bengali, Marathi, Kannada, Telugu, Malayalam, Punjabi, Bhojpuri, Konkani, Odia, Gujarati and English.

Early Life

Shroff was born Jaikishan Kakubhai Shroff in Bombay (present Mumbai), India. The father of his son, Kakubhai Haribhai, Shroff was Gujarati and his mother was an Uyghur who fled Kazakhstan (then the Kazakh Soviet Socialist Republic, which was then part of the Russian Soviet Union) during the time of a coup. His maternal grandmother fled to Ladakh together with her seven daughters during an uprising in Kazakhstan.

They moved to Delhi then they moved to Mumbai. His father was from a Gujarati family of traders and merchants. But they lost all their wealth in the stock market, and his father was forced to leave the family at 17 years of age. His father and mother met as teenagers, and they were married.

Education

Jackie graduated from 11th standard at an acclaimed school. However, the name of the school isn’t well-known. His post-education/graduation is also not known.

Career

Jackie Shroff left school after the 11th grade as his family was in financial trouble. Because of his lack of qualifications He tried his hand in the kitchen as an assistant cook at Taj Hotels and as a flight attendant for Air India, but he was rejected for both jobs. After that, in addition to Jahangir Art Gallery, he was offered a job. Jahangir Art Gallery started his career as a travel consultant for an organization in the neighborhood called “Trade Wings.”

He was at the bus station when an accountant of an advertising firm was spotted and asked about his desire in modeling. On the next day during his lunch break, Shroff visited the nearby National advertising company located within the same structure as Davar’s school and is located near Flora Fountain.

The television shows Lehrein, Chirtrahar, and Missing and Missing were all performed by Shroff. Shroff’s witty narration helped the television series “Missing” become popular among people.
