Release
Upon its release, Jayam received a blend of reviews, with a reviewer from The Hindu expressing a sense of familiarity but acknowledging director Raja’s intriguing approach in certain segments of the film. However, despite the mixed critical reception, the movie turned out to be an unexpected triumph at the box office.
Its success not only propelled director Raja to prominence but also led both Raja and Ravi to incorporate “Jayam” as a prefix to their stage names. Furthermore, their production house underwent a renaming, now known as Jayam Company, aligning with the film’s significant impact on their careers and the industry as a whole.
