“Pramod Films” and “Trident Arts” come together as the production companies behind the creation of the film “Lakshmi,” which was released on 24th August 2018, coinciding with the auspicious occasion of Varalakshmi Vratam. The film is based on the theme of the goddess Lakshmi, showcasing her significance and power.

Plot

Lakshmi, a passionate ten-year-old girl, is consumed by her love for dance and aspires to win the prestigious “Pride of Life India Jr.” title at a national-level dance competition. However, her journey is complicated by her single mother, Nandini, who harbors a strong aversion towards music and dance. Despite her mother’s disapproval, Lakshmi finds solace and an unexpected connection with the people at a nearby café near her school.

Initially drawn to the café by the captivating music played inside, Lakshmi soon becomes a regular visitor. Vijay Krishna, also known as VK, the owner of the café, is impressed by her talent and skill and welcomes her into the café’s warm embrace. Reluctantly, the café’s waiter Azhagu also grows fond of Lakshmi’s presence.

Production

In September 2017, director A. L. Vijay and actor Prabhu Deva embarked on their collaboration for a new film project. Dismissing speculations of it being a sequel to their previous film Devi (2016), the team officially announced the film’s commencement. The film’s launch ceremony took place on 22 September 2017, unveiling Aishwarya Rajesh as a part of the cast.

The production enlisted the talents of renowned cinematographer Nirav Shah to handle the visuals, while Sam C. S. and Anthony were brought on board as the music composer and editor, respectively. The film marked a joint venture between R. Ravindran of Trident Arts and Shruti Nallappa from Pramod Films.

The production budget of the film was valued at ₹12 crore. This movie was released on August 24, 2018. The satellite rights of the film were sold to Zee Tamil.
