Mammootty was born on the 7th of September 1951. He is more well-known by his stage name. He is the name of an Indian movie actor as well as producer, who works as a producer and actor in Malayalam cinema. In his career that spans over four decades, he’s been in over 400 films, the majority of them in Malayalam and films in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Hindi, and English.

He was an attorney by trade. After making himself an actor of note during the 80s, his biggest breakthrough was an acclaimed commercial film in 1987 in New Delhi. He has been awarded three Best Actor National Film Awards as well as seven Kerala State Film Awards and thirteen Filmfare Awards South Awards.

In 1998 the Indian government presented him with the Padma Shri for his contributions to the arts. He was also awarded an honorary doctorate degree from the University of Kerala in January 2010 and from the University of Calicut in December 2010.

Family

Mammootty was born Muhammad Kutty Ismail Paniparambil on 7 September 1951 in Chandiroor in the Alappuzha district. He was raised in the village of Chempu close to Vaikom in the Kottayam district of the present-day State of Kerala, India in a middle-class Muslim family.

Mammootty was the son of Ismail a farmer, and His mother was Fatima a domestic worker. He was their eldest son. He is the younger brother of Ibrahimkutty as well as Zakariah and three sisters younger than him, Ameena, Sauda, and Shafia.

Education

Mammootty was educated as a child at the Government High School in Kulasekharamangalam, Kottayam. He was a student at the Government School Ernakulam after his father moved the family to Kerala in the late 1960s. At Sacred Heart College in Thevara, He completed his pre-university studies.

To further his higher education the college he attended Maharaja’s College in Ernakulam. At the Government Law College in Ernakulam, the student received an LL.B. degree. He was a lawyer at the law firm of Manjeri for over two months.

Personal Life

He was born in the village of Chempu close to Vaikom in the Kottayam district in Kerala. He was married to Sulfate in 1979. They have two children: Surumi and Dulquer Salmaan.

Career

A.K. Lohithadas along with Sibi Malayil worked together on The 1987 Malayalam dramatic film Thaniyavarthanam. The film features Kaviyoor Ponnamma as the protagonist, Mukesh playing Gopinathan Thilakan in the role of the Matrilineal family’s uncle, and the school’s teacher Balagopalan. Following its release, the film gained cult-like status. In the end, it won the Kerala State Film Award for the second Best Actor award Thilakan.
