Mulayam Singh Yadav, an experienced Indian politician is the founding member of the Samajwadi Party. He was the Defence Minister of India under the United Front Government from 1996 until 1998 when his elected to Lok Sabha for the first time in the year 1996. Mulayam Singh Yadav also is the former Chief Minister three times in Uttar Pradesh; he held the post from 1989 until 1991, then from 1993 until 1995, and finally from 2003 until 2007.

In his political career that started in the 60s, Yadav has won numerous Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections and was elected as a Lok Sabha member five times. Mulayam Singh Yadav’s wife before Mulayam is Malti Devi. She was suffering from complications during giving birth to Akhilesh Yadav, their son. Akhilesh Yadav. The couple passed away in 2003. Malti Devi lived in a vegetative condition until her death. Yadav later got married to Sadhana Yadav and they gave birth to Prateek Yadav, who is Akhilesh Yadav’s half-brother.

The 82-year-old Yadav has a B.A., B.T., and an M.A. diploma in Political Science from various universities, including K.K. College, Shikohabad & B.R. College, and Agra University.

Personal Life

He was born into the family of a poor peasant on the 22nd of November, 1939. The place of birth was Saifai village in the Etawah district, in the State of Uttar Pradesh in India. He is the son of Sughar Singh, and his mother was named Murti Devi.

Political Career

Mulayam Singh Yadav entered politics in the year 1960. He was elected MLA of the Legislative Assembly of Uttar Pradesh in 1967. He then served eight consecutive terms. In the Emergency in 1975, which was imposed on Indira Gandhi, in the year 1975 Gandhi was arrested and placed in prison for 19 months. In 1977 He was appointed state minister, and then in 1980, he was the president of Lok Dal in UP which was later merged into Janata Dal.
