Births, Early Life, and Education

PV Sindhu was the daughter of PV Ramana (Father), and P Vijaya, (Mother) in Hyderabad on July 5, 1995. Her parents were volleyball players at the national level. Sindhu’s father was part of the 1986 Seoul Asian Games bronze medal-winning team. For his contributions to sport, he was awarded the Arjuna Award in 2000.

Personal Life

PV Sindhu, an Assistant Sports Manager at the Hyderabad Office of Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited has been with BPCL since July 2013. After winning a silver medal in the Rio Olympics 2016, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited promoted her to Deputy Sports Manager.

She was also named the first Bridgestone India brand ambassador. At the opening ceremony of the 2018 Commonwealth Games, Sindhu was India’s flag bearer.

Badminton Career

Sindhu started playing badminton at eight years old. She began learning basic badminton skills under the supervision of Mehboob Ali at the Secunderabad badminton courts of the Indian Railway Institute of Signal Engineering and Telecommunications. She traveled 56km each day to get to the badminton courts, where she could practice and learn the sport.

PV Sindhu joined Gopichand Badminton Academy, where she won many titles in the 10-year category. She won the fifth Servo All India ranking title in both the doubles and singles categories at the Ambuja Cement All India rank.
