He was trained in snooker by former champion national Snooker winner Arvind Savur.

Pankaj and Shree attended their school, the Frank Anthony Public School, Bangalore, and both became Head Boys at the school. Since Pankaj often missed important school functions and events like Annual Day or Sports Day because of his competitions.

Career
Advani began his international competitive debut in 1999 during the World Billiards Championship in England. After his World Snooker Champion title win in 2003, he was awarded the IBSF World Billiards Championship in 2005 in Qawra, Malta, where Advani became the first player to win the “Grand Double.”
He has been awarded”the “Grand Double” on three occasions: 2008 in Bangalore as well as 2014. England and again in Myanmar. The only Indian to have taken home the title of world amateur champion in both billiards and snooker.
