Early Life

Sarathkumar graduated from The New College, Chennai with a Bachelor of Science. He began working in the journalism industry after completing his bachelor’s degree. He quit his job immediately to pursue acting. His film debut was made in 1986 with the Telugu film Samajamlo Sthree.

A few years later, he made his Tamil film debut in Kan Simittum Neram. He was the producer and played many roles in the movie. His acting career began after he made his debut in the 1990 Tamil movie Pulan Visaranai. He was awarded the Best Villain award at the box office for his role in this film.

Education

Sarathkumar moved with his family from Delhi to Chennai and he started attending Raja Muthiah High School. After finishing his studies at St. Patrick’s Anglo-Indian Higher Secondary School, he transferred to the Central School of the Indian Institute of Technology Madras.

Career

Sarathkumar, an Indian actor, producer, and writer, is also a director. His acting career began in 1986 with the Telugu film Samajamlo Sthree. He continued to act for almost three decades. Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada are the most common languages in southern India. Sarathkumar has also acted in Malayalam.

Pulivaal (2014) and Indu Enna Maayam 2015 are some others. He directed the 2015 movie Thalaimagan and wrote the movie Sandamarutham in 2015. In 2018, he released three movies: Bharat ane Nenu and Naa Peru Surya-Naa Illu India. In 2019, he will release Seetharama Kalyana.

Sarathkumar began his political career in 1996 when he joined Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam. In the 1998 Lok Sabha elections, he ran for Tirunelveli’s Tamil Nadu city. He was defeated by just 6904 votes.

After he was elected to the Rajya Sabha in June 2001, he and Raadhika switched parties and supported AIADMK at the 2006 Assembly elections. In November 2006, he left the AIADMK, citing the need to maintain an “undivided focus” as a president of the South India Artistes’ Organization.
