Sara Canning’s journey in the world of acting began with her graduation from a year-long screen acting program at Vancouver Film School in 2007. Prior to her acting pursuits, she had a strong interest in figure skating, which she pursued during her childhood and early adolescent years. Her fascination with the world of theater was ignited while she was a student at F.R. Haythorne Junior High. Her educational journey continued at ‘Bev Facey Community High School.’ At the age of 18, Canning made her professional acting debut in George Orwell’s “1984” at the Citadel Theatre in Edmonton. This marked the start of her involvement in numerous stage productions.

Relationship Status

After establishing a solid reputation in her career, Sara decided to settle down. She married Michael Morris in 2008, but tragically, they separated in 2011 due to his sudden passing. At present, she is single.

Sara Canning initially had ambitions in journalism but decided to pivot towards acting. She secured representation from an agent and began her acting career in television series and TV films produced in Vancouver. To fully pursue her acting aspirations, she made the pivotal decision to leave college. Subsequently, she moved to Vancouver and enrolled in an acting program at Vancouver Film School, successfully completing it in 2007. Her first notable role came in 2008 when she portrayed Nicky Hilton in “Paparazzi Princess: The Paris Hilton Story.” This role depicted a woman prominent in the media. In 2009, she made guest appearances on TV shows like “Smallville” and “Kyle XY” and starred in the TV movie “Taken in Broad Daylight,” which was based on real events. Notably, she portrayed Maggie McGregor, the older of two British sisters striving to make their way on the Canadian Prairies.

Her role as a general surgeon, Mel Conner, came in the TV series “Remedy,” alongside Sarah Allen, Enrico Colantoni, and Dillion Casey.Canning’s talents extended to the big screen as she co-starred in “War for the Planet of the Apes” (2017), a sequel to 2014’s “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.” She played the head of a boarding school named Ms. Canning. In 2017, she portrayed Jacquelyn Scieszka in the Netflix series “A Series of Unfortunate Events,” based on Daniel Handler’s book series of the same name.
