Tiger Woods was born Eldrick Woods on December 30, 1975, in Cypress, California. He was the only child of Earl and Kultida Woods. His parents identified them. As a teen, he began playing Golf like a pro before he played college golf in 1996. As a professional golfer, he made his debut in 1997, capturing 3 PGA tour events and the Masters with 12 strokes. He was awarded $4.8 million as his prize money.

Early Life

Eldrick Tont Woods, better known as Tiger Woods, was born on December 30, 1975, in Cypress, California, the only child of an African American Army officer father and a Thai mother. When he was a child, his father began calling him “Tiger” in honor of a fellow soldier and friend who had the same moniker.

As a young boy, Woods learned to play golf. His father, the Earl, served as his teacher and mentor. By the age of eight, Woods had become extremely proficient at the game, even showing off his skills on television shows such as Good Morning America

Family

He is the son of Earl Woods (US Army Infantry Officer) and Kultida Woods (US Army Nurse). Kevin Dale Woods and Earl Woods, Jr. are his two brothers. Royce Renee Woods is his sister.
