U-Turn Hindi Movie 2023 Cast, Plot, Production, & Reception
Produced by Ekta Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor, U-Turn is an official remake of the 2016 Kannada film of the same name. This Hindi adaptation marks the seventh Indian-language remake of the original film. U-Turn was released on April 28, 2023, exclusively on the streaming platform ZEE5.
Plot
The film opens with a scene where a man is driving on the NTPC flyover in Chandigarh. Suddenly, he receives a call instructing him to return to a specific location. Without thinking much, he moves the stones that serve as dividers on the flyover, takes an illegal U-turn, and drives down the wrong side of the road, forgetting to put the stones back in their original positions.
Tragically, the man meets with a fatal accident soon after. Fast forward a year or two, Radhika Bakshi, an intern at a local newspaper, takes an interest in investigating the incidents where people lose their lives due to misplaced stones. She discovers that the illegal U-turns and the failure of the Regional Transport Office (RTO) and the police to take action against this practice are the underlying causes of these fatalities.

Following the launch of the film’s trailer on April 13, 2023, lead actress Alaya F clarified that U-Turn is an adaptation of the 2016 Kannada film, rather than a direct remake. Director Arif Khan echoed this sentiment, referring to it as an “inspiration” rather than a remake. He emphasized that although the plot of the Hindi film bears similarities to the original Kannada film, the stories are distinct from each other.
Reception
Saibal Chatterjee of NDTV gave U-Turn a rating of 2 stars out of 5 and mentioned that the film takes an ill-advised turn in its final act. Shubhra Gupta from The Indian Express rated the movie 1.5 stars out of 5 and criticized the remake for unnecessary changes from the tight and twisty source material, even stating that those unfamiliar with the original Kannada film would find the Hindi version choppy.
