Plot

Yashoda, an employee at Zomato, decides to become a surrogate mother to raise funds for her sister’s surgery. She is brought to Eva, a cutting-edge surrogacy center owned by Dr. Madhubala. There, Yashoda forms friendships with other surrogate mothers who are also struggling financially.

Simultaneously, the local police begin investigating a suspicious incident involving Shiva Reddy, a wealthy businessman, and his girlfriend Aarushi. The authorities suspect foul play and assign Vasudeva IPS to lead the case. Vasudeva delves into Aarushi’s background and begins examining her emails, mail, and text messages.

Production

In October 2021, Samantha, the renowned actress, signed a bilingual film in Telugu and Tamil. The movie was set to be directed by the duo of Hari Shankar and Harish Narayan and produced by Sridevi Movies. Initially titled “Yashoda,” the film underwent some changes during its development. Filming

Principal photography for the film commenced in December 2021, with M. Sukumar handling the cinematography and Marthand K. Venkatesh overseeing the editing. The filming process spanned 100 days and concluded by July 2022, except for one song yet to be shot. Following the completion of filming, the focus shifted towards CGI work and post-production, which commenced promptly.

Theatrical

Initially, Yashoda was set to be released on 12 August 2022, coinciding with Independence Day and Raksha Bandhan. However, due to delays in filing, the release date had to be postponed. Eventually, on 17 October 2022, a new release date was announced, and the film was scheduled to hit the screens on 11 November 2022. Notably, besides the Telugu version.

Following its theatrical release, Yashoda made its premiere on Amazon Prime Video on 9 December 2022. The film was made available in Telugu, as well as dubbed versions in Tamil, Hindi, Kannada, and Malayalam languages, expanding its reach to a wider audience.
