Pinnaduwage Wanindu Hasaranga De Silva, also known as Wanindu Hasaranga is a Sri Lankan international cricketer. He plays as a bowling all-rounder for the Sri Lankan cricket team. Early Life and Education

Wanindu Hasaranga began playing cricket when he was just 11 years old. He started out as a fast bowler. He was a Richmond College student and participated in many college matches. After being guided by his mentor and coach, he began to practice leg spin and switched to spin bowling during his first year at college.

Hasaranga changed his bowling style at the age of 16. He was 17 years old when he was selected for the college team to play in a tournament in his hometown. There he took 28 wickets in 6 matches.

Early years

Wanindu Hasaranga de Silva studied at Richmond College in Galle. This is where he began his cricket career. He represented Sri Lanka’s under-19 cricket team in the Under-19 Cricket World Cup in Bangladesh in 2016.

Domestic and Franchising Careers

Hasaranga made List A debut in the AIA Premier Limited Over Tournament on 30/11/15. He was selected in Sri Lanka’s Under-19 Cricket World Cup 2016 squad in December 2015. He was a part of Sri Lanka’s 2016 U19 World Cup team that took seven wickets. This tournament also featured a match-winning performance by his bowling against England, which saw him score 3/34 in the quarter-final.

On 26 February 2016, he made his debut in Sri Lanka Ports Authority Cricket Club’s first-class team at the 2015-16 Premier League Tournament.

International Career

He made his ODI debut against Zimbabwe on July 2, 2017. When he took the last three wickets from Zimbabwe, he became the youngest bowler in ODI history who has scored a hat trick. He was also the first leg spinner to score a hat trick in ODI history.

IPL Career
