Sarfaraz Ahmed (born 22 May 1987) is a Pakistani professional cricketer, a wicketkeeper-batsman, who plays for the Pakistani national cricket team. He was the former Pakistani side captain in all formats. He is the leader of Quetta Gladiators in the Pakistan Super League.
Following the 2016 ICC World Twenty20 India, Sarfaraz was appointed Pakistan’s Twenty20 International Captain. After Azhar Ali’s resignation, he was appointed Pakistan’s ODI captain on 9 February 2017. After Misbah-ul Haq’s retirement, he assumed the Test captaincy for Pakistan and became the 32nd Pakistan Cricket Team captain. His captaincy saw Pakistan win the Champions Trophy in June 2017.

International Career
Sarfaraz’s most notable accomplishment in his early years of career was winning the 2006 ICC U-19 World Cup. He led the Pakistani team to victory over India in a low-scoring match.
Pakistan called Sarfaraz up to cover Kamran Akmal, who sustained a finger injury during the one-day series against India. On 18 November 2007, he made his ODI debut. As Pakistan won the match, he wasn’t allowed to bat.
Domestic and Franchise Cricket
Quetta Gladiators selected Sarfaraz in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), players’ draft, on 21 December 2015. He was chosen to be the franchise captain in the 2016 season. He led the Gladiators to the final, winning only two matches. His team couldn’t make it to the final and lost to Islamabad United. Quetta lost the final by 58 runs to Peshawar in the second season of 2017.
