Production

Trisha’s tweet about her involvement in the sequel alongside Siddharth was the first official confirmation of the project’s progress. Hansika Motwani also announced her participation in Aranmanai 2 soon after.

Poonam Bajwa was then chosen for a role in the film. Soori was cast as a comedian, replacing N. Santhanam from the first film. Kovai Sarala and Aadukalam Naren were also brought on board to play supporting characters.

Music

Hiphop Tamizha composed both the soundtrack album and background score for the film, which featured a total of six tracks. The music rights were acquired by Think Music India, and the album was officially launched on December 27, 2015.

In September 2015, Kaushik Krish, an independent singer who had previously recorded “Kannala Kannala” for the movie Thani Oruvan, revealed that he was collaborating on a single track from the album, despite not being listed as an artist on the tracklist.

Release

To coincide with the Deepavali festival, the film’s promotional song, ‘Party with the Pei’, was released on 10 November 2015. The initial release date for the film was scheduled for 15 January 2016 to coincide with Thai Pongal. However, the release was postponed and pushed back to 29 January 2016.
