Abhilash Sasikumar works as an Indian advertising film and feature film producer, a filmmaker as well as a screenwriter from Kerala, India. He is most well-known as the screenwriter for the movie 22 Female Kottayam, and his frequent collaborations with the likes of Aashiq Abu and Shyam Pushkaran.

This is the case with the sleeper hit Salt ‘N’ pepper. He creates movies under the umbrellas of two production houses, Artbeat Studios and Papaya Media which also operates a cafe geared towards the community of artists, Cafe Papaya.

Abhilash Kumar was born on October 31, 1991, in New Delhi, India. He is a degree of Bachelor of Commerce with Honours degree from the Dayal Singh College, New Delhi. He is unmarried. Early Life

Abhilash Kumar was born in Kerala He attended the Seventh Day Adventist School in Thrissur. Since his early years, he longed to be an author and eventually wrote the novel of his choice. He decided to make his career transition from the IT sector to the film industry, following helping his friend Aashiq Abu in the development of his film, Daddy Cool.

Personal Life

Kumar was married to Malayalam actor Lena who was of Ee Adutha Kaalathu’s fame, in the year 2004 after having been friends since childhood, However, they parted ways in 2014. The couple lived in Bengaluru and was employed in Kerala.

Career

The year 2011 marked the beginning of Kumar’s career as a film actor in the role of assistant director for Abbas’ Salt ‘N’ pepper which is a love story that has food as the main theme. The screenplay is written by Shyam Pushkaran and Dileesh Nair. Following the release of the film, Abu revealed that his next venture was going to be called Idukki Gold, a movie that is based on a short tale written by Santhosh Echikkanam.

But, following the huge success of Salt ‘n’ Pep the light-hearted comedy, and the debut of many of the cast, the crew made the decision to shift gears to create a darker-themed film as well as put Idukki Gold on hold. This is when the process of developing 22 Female Kottayam began.

The character of the principal character, Tessa, came about through conversations with nurses from Kottayam as well as the actress who plays the lead role, Rima Karingal. The film 22 Female Kottayam is his first screenwriting credit of any kind and he was a co-writer on Salt Pepper’s script. The plot is a revenge story about an employee who is brutalized and manipulated by her lover.

In the middle of 2012, the love story Da Thadiya followed, directed by Abu and written by frequent collaborators of his, Kumar, Nair, and Pushkaran. The film was a story about an overweight young man, Luke John Prakash, and the challenges he has to face due to his obesity. It was made by Abu’s banner Open Your Mouth Cinemas. DJ Sekhar Menon plays the character of the protagonist, in his first performance acting debut.

Alongside his film work, Kumar continues to work on commercial films. As of 2015, Kumar served as an associate director with Aashiq Abu in an advertisement campaign for UAE Exchange. It featured two actors Fahadh Faasil as well as Jayasurya and the latter had a previous collaboration with the director group of 22 female Kottayam.
