Angelina Jolie was born in Los Angeles, California to her father Jon Voight, and mother Marcheline Bertrand. Both are actors. Early Life and Acting Roots
Actress and human rights activist Angelina Jolie Voight was born on the 4th of June, 1975 in Los Angeles, California, to actor Jon Voight and actress Marcheline Bertrand. She started acting at a very young age and began studying at the Lee Strasberg Theater Institute while in her teens. Jolie later went to New York University.
Personal Life
In March 1996, Jolie was married in the month of March 1996. British actress Jonny Lee Miller. Miller who was her co-star in the movie “Hackers,”. Unsatisfied with her wedding dress, she donned black rubber pants and a white shirt that had Jonny’s name written on it in blood.
Jolie and Miller broke up the following year and divorced later in 1999. Jolie is bisexual and previously had an affair in the past with Jenny Shimizu. The couple then got married to American actor Billy Bob Thornton in 2000.
Career
Although she first made her screen debut in her early years, Jolie’s acting career started a decade later in the low-budget film Cyborg 2 (1993) and after that, her first lead part as a lead actress in Hackers (1995). The actress was able to appear in the highly well-received biographical film George Wallace (1997) and Gia (1998) and received the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in the soap opera Girl, Interrupted (1999).
Jolie became famous internationally for her performance as the videogame heroine Lara Croft in Lara Croft: Tomb Raider (2001) and the sequel, which came out in 2003. Since then, she has been recognized among the most popular and most highly-paid acting stars in Hollywood. One of her greatest commercial successes has been the action-comedy Mr. & Mrs. Smith (2005) however Beowulf as well as The Good Shepherd also did very well.
