Anushka Sharma was born May 1st, 1988 in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, to Colonel Ajay Kumar Sharma, a military officer, and Ashima Sharma who is a homemaker. Her elder brother is named Karnesh Sharma, who served as a member of the Merchant Navy and is now a film director.

She was born in Bangalore where she was a student at an Army School before receiving a diploma in arts in the field of arts from Mount Carmel College. She was initially interested in an occupation in journalism or modeling, and she moved to Mumbai after she completed her studies to look for modeling opportunities.

Career

Anushka Sharma started her modeling career as a model. She was hired by Elite Model Management, where she was trained by stylist Prasad Bidapa. In addition, she attended acting classes and was able to audition for roles. Her runway debut was at Lakme Fashion Week for designer Wendell Rodricks’ Les Vamps Show and was then chosen to be his final model for his Spring-Summer 2007 collection.

When she took her screen test in the Yash Raj Films studio, she was already working on campaigns for brands such as Silk & Shine, Whisper, Nathella Jewelry, and Fiat Palio. She was not willing to take part in an audition in the middle of the night and planned for a full day of preparation and was able to secure a three-film deal in partnership with the production company.
