Athar Aamir Khan, born on September 5th, 1992, is an IAS officer, entrepreneur, and writer hailing from Devipora, Mattan, Anantnag, Jammu & Kashmir, India. He gained nationwide recognition as the husband of IAS officer Tina Dabi. Despite coming from Jammu and Kashmir, a region plagued by terrorist activities, Athar focused on his career as an IAS officer. He is currently serving as an IAS officer in the Rajasthan cadre.

Aamir, whose full name is Athar Aamir-ul-Shafi Khan, was born on September 5th, 1992 (Saturday) to his parents in Devipora, Mattan, Anantnag, Jammu & Kashmir, India. He follows the Muslim religion and belongs to the Sunni caste.

Family

Athar Aamir comes from a Sunni Muslim family in Anantnag, Kashmir. His father, Mohammad Shafi Khan, is a teacher and his mother is a homemaker. He has two younger sisters and one younger brother. After successfully cracking the IAS exam in 2016, Athar married fellow IAS officer Tina Dabi on March 20th, 2018 in a court marriage, followed by religious marriage rituals on April 7th, 2018.

However, after two years of marriage, the couple filed for divorce with mutual consent in a Jaipur family court in November 2020. Before this, Tina had removed Khan from her surname on social media, and Athar had unfollowed her on Instagram around the same time. Their divorce plea was approved by a family court in Jaipur in August 2021.

Early Life

Athar Aamir was born into a Muslim family with his father Mohammad Shafi Khan being a teacher and his mother being a homemaker. He has two younger sisters and one younger brother.

In 2015, Athar fell in love with Tina Dabi, the 2016 IAS Exam winner. The couple got married on March 20, 2018, in a court marriage held in Jaipur. They later got married again on April 7, 2018, in a ceremony held at the Pahalgam Club in Kashmir, according to religious traditions.

Education

Aamir completed his Higher Secondary education at Tyndale Biscoe School in Srinagar. He then pursued his undergraduate studies in Electrical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Mandi. It was during his time at IIT Mandi that he learned about Shah Faesal, the topper of the UPSC Civil Services Examination, which inspired him to attempt the IAS exam.

Personal Life

Aamir and Tina tied the knot in a court marriage officiated by the district collector Siddharth Maharajan in Jaipur on March 20, 2018. They subsequently held two wedding celebrations, one in Kashmir on April 7, 2018, and another in Delhi on April 14, 2018. The reception was graced by the presence of Venkaiah Naidu, Ravi Shankar Prasad, and Sumitra Mahajan.

However, the Hindu Mahasabha labeled their union love jihad and urged Tina to undergo ghar wapsi, a process of reconverting to Hinduism.

Career

Right from his school days, he displayed a remarkable level of genius. Excelling not only in academics but also in other domains, he even secured the coveted title of ‘Best Young Scientist’ in the National Children’s Science competition. During his B.Tech, the topper of all India UPSC Examination.

Although he received a job offer from the Indian Railway Traffic Service (IRTS) after passing the railways exam in 2014, he decided to pursue IAS training instead. In 2016, he achieved a staggering feat by securing the 2nd rank in the Civil Services Examination (UPSC) on his first attempt, scoring 50.27% marks.

As per estimates, he earns a monthly compensation of around INR 60-70k (approx.) from his job. In addition, the government has provided him with a range of benefits, including a branded automobile, a residence, a chef, a gardener, and other amenities.
