Early and Personal Life

He, originally named Gandham Devi Sri Prasad, was born in Amalapuram, Andhra Pradesh, into a Telugu-speaking family. His father, G. Satyamurthy, was a well-known screenwriter in Telugu cinema, having contributed to popular films like Devatha, Khaidi No. 786, and Pedarayudu. His father hailed from Vedurupaka.

His name, contrary to popular belief, was not prefixed after his debut film but was given to him in honor of his maternal grandparents, Devi Meenakshi, and Prasada Rao. He spent his formative years in Madras, now Chennai, and attended Sir M. Venkata Subba Rao School in T. Nagar.

However, it was in 1999 that he marked his official debut as a music composer by creating the score and soundtrack for the Telugu film ‘Devi.’ His talent did not stop there, as he also composed the Tamil version of the film’s soundtrack, which resonated with the audience and became an instant hit. This early success laid the foundation for his illustrious career as a music composer in both Telugu and Tamil-language films.
