Plot

Amidst this tense situation, the family discovers that Chinnu, Padmini’s niece, has gone missing. Concerned and desperate to find her, the family reports the incident to the police. However, the progress of the investigation is disappointingly slow, leading Varun to become disillusioned with the authorities.

In an unconventional move, Varun hatches a plan to kidnap the daughter of the Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), believing that this drastic action would prompt a more efficient investigation. His risky scheme proves successful, leading the police to apprehend several prominent criminals involved in child kidnapping cases.

Development

On August 20, 2019, reports surfaced indicating that Sivakarthikeyan had signed a new project with his close friend Nelson Dilipkumar, who had previously directed “Kolamavu Kokila” in 2018. Initially, the film was set to be produced by Sony Pictures’ Indian branch, marking their debut production in Tamil cinema. Vishnu Vardhan Induri’s production company, Vibri Media and Entertainment, was also expected to be involved in the production.

Music

The soundtrack album of the film is composed by Anirudh Ravichander, marking his sixth collaboration with Sivakarthikeyan and his second collaboration with director Nelson Dilipkumar. In February 2020, Sony Music India acquired the audio rights for the film. During the lockdown period, the film’s first single, titled “Chellamma,” was composed. The song, written by Sivakarthikeyan himself, featured lyrics referencing the ban on TikTok in India.

The film was globally released in theaters on October 9, 2021. In addition to its Tamil version, the film was also dubbed and released in Telugu with the title “Varun Doctor”.Originally, the film was slated for a theatrical release in late 2020 but faced delays before its eventual release in 2021.
