Drushyam stars renowned actors Venkatesh, Meena, and Nadhiya, who skillfully portray the roles originally brought to life by Mohanlal.

Drushyam Telugu Movie 2014 Cast, Plot, Production, & Release

The narrative of the film revolves around Rambabu, a modest cable TV operator, and his family. Their lives take an unexpected turn when Varun, the son of the Inspector-General of Police (IG), mysteriously goes missing after harassing Rambabu’s daughter. As the circumstances unfold, Rambabu and his family find themselves under scrutiny and suspicion, becoming the prime suspects in Varun’s disappearance.

Plot

Rambabu, a cable network operator residing in the picturesque village of Rajavaram, nestled in the scenic Araku region, leads a contented life alongside his wife Jyothi, and their two daughters, Anju and Anu. While Rambabu’s occupation immerses him in the world of cinema, allowing him to indulge in a variety of films spanning different languages, little does he realize the profound impact they have on his subconscious mind.

Immersed in the captivating narratives and vivid characters, Rambabu finds himself unwittingly emulating the behaviors and mannerisms of these on-screen personas. Their influence gradually seeps into his daily life, subtly shaping his decisions and actions, often with unexpected consequences.

Development

Under the ownership of Rajkumar Sethupathi, the rights to remake Jeethu Joseph’s acclaimed Malayalam film “Drishyam” (2013), featuring the talented trio of Mohanlal, Meena, and Asha Sarath, have been acquired. Taking heed of Kamal Haasan’s recommendation, Sethupathi has handpicked Daggubati Venkatesh to assume the lead role in the Telugu adaptation.

Soundtrack

Sharreth, a talented composer, contributed two songs to the film, with lyrics for both penned by Chandrabose. These songs were unveiled on 21 June 2014, through Lahari Music’s official YouTube channel. Sandhya Rao from Sify expressed in her review that the songs and background score harmonize perfectly with the film.

Release

Originally scheduled to release on or after 15 August 2014, in conjunction with India’s Independence Day, the film’s release plans were moved up to July 2014. This decision was made due to a lack of new releases during that month, presenting an advantageous opportunity to maximize its potential at the box office.
