Ellie Goulding is an English vocalist, songwriter, and instrumentalist from England. The singer was born Elena Jane Goulding on December 30, 1986, in Hereford, England. At the age of 14, she began playing guitar and writing her own songs.

Ellie Goulding was a student at Lady Hawkins’ High School and was later followed by Hereford Sixth Form College. Goulding discovered electronic music while at The University of Kent. She was approached by Jamie Lillywhite during a university talent competition.

The birth of Elena Jane Goulding in Lyonshall close to Kington, Herefordshire, England on the 30th of December 1986. She is the second daughter of Arthur Goulding and his wife Tracey Goulding Summers who worked in an upscale supermarket in hopes of aiding the family. Her elder sister’s name was Isabel and her younger siblings include a brother named Alex and a younger sister who is named Jordan.

She was barely five when she saw her father divorce the family. Her mother was remarried to the driver of a truck, however, the marriage was not working and they divorced. When she was a child her mother was adamant about her love for music and encouraged her to study music. She was able to play a variety of musical instruments prior to becoming an adult and then began writing songs when she was 14 years old.

Career

Goulding was signed to Polydor Records in 2009 and released her debut album Lights In 2010, she released her debut album Lights. The album reached the top spot in the UK Charts and received positive reviews from critics of music. The album that followed, Halcyon, was released in 2012 and marked the first artist to make a top 10 album on the charts in the United States.

The single from her 2015 album “Love Me As You Do” was the soundtrack for the film Fifty Shades of Grey. The third album of Goulding, Delirium was released in the year 2015 and included three singles “On My Mind”, “Army” and “Something in the Way You Move”.
