Faf du Plessis earned a six-month contract with Lancashire County Cricket Club in 2008 as a Kolpak player, following impressive performances in local leagues. He was among four uncapped players named in South Africa’s 30-man preliminary squad for the 2011 World Cup. Recognized for his talent, du Plessis was honored as one of the five Players Of The Year by the South Africa Cricket Annual in 2011. Additionally, in June 2023, he was appointed as the captain of the Texas Super Kings for the inaugural season of Major League Cricket (MLC).
