Huma Qureshi Biography

Huma Saleem Qureshi, born on 28 July 1986, is an Indian actress and model. She is primarily known for her roles in Hindi-language films. She was also nominated for three Filmfare Awards. Qureshi earned a Bachelor’s Degree in History with Honours from the University of Delhi while working as a model and theatre actor.

Huma was raised in a conservative Muslim home. Saleem Qureshi, her father, is a restaurateur who owns the chain of restaurants “Saleem’s”, in Delhi. Ameena Qureshi is her mother and hails from Kashmir. She is the daughter of two older brothers and one younger brother. Her elder brothers, Naem Qureshi, and Haseen Qureshi work in the family business. Saqib Saleem Qureshi, her younger brother is a well-known Indian actor.

Early Life and Education

Qureshi was born on 28 July 1986 into a Muslim family in New Delhi. Saleem Qureshi is her father and runs a restaurant chain (Saleem’s). Ameena Qureshi (a Kashmiri) is her mother. She is the sister of actor Saqib Saleem. Qureshi, a young boy, was the first to move with his family to Kalkaji in South Delhi.

She received her bachelor’s degree in History from Gargi College-University of Delhi. She joined Act 1 theatre and participated in several theatre productions. N. K Sharma was her mentor during her theatre days. She has assisted a documentary filmmaker and worked with several NGOs.

Relationship

She is in a relationship with Mudassar Aziz, an Indian director, and writer.

Career

She moved to Mumbai in 2008 to audition for the film Junction, which was never produced. I didn’t have any plans to move to Mumbai or to become an actress. When a friend called me to schedule an audition, I began to question my decision. Unfortunately, the film was never made.

Acting Career

In 2008, she moved to Mumbai and auditioned for Junction. She felt defeated when the film didn’t make it. For an ad shoot, she had previously worked with Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan. During these ad shoot days, she met Anurag Kashyap. Chakri Toleti produced and directed her film Billa II, which was a breakthrough in the Tamil Film Industry. Billa, I was a gangster-thriller movie, but unfortunately, it did not succeed.
