Family
She was raised by Bengali Brahmins. Famous author and poet Taroon Kumar Bhaduri was her father. Indira Bhaduri is the name of her mother. The oldest of three sisters, Rita Verma is married to Rajeev Verma, who portrayed Salman Khan’s father in the 1989 film Maine Pyar Kiya. Rita is one of Jaya’s sisters.

Career
When this Bollywood actress was only 15 years old, in 1963, she started working. She had an appearance in the Satyajit Ray film Mahanagar. With Jaya Bachchan, Madhabi Mukherjee, and Anil Chatterjee playing the main characters, it was a regional Bengali movie.
She made her Bollywood debut in the 1975 movie Guddi which was directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee. In this film, she played a teenage girl who was portrayed as being fixated on the actor Dharmendra. The film performed admirably on the big screen.
