Jeremy Lalrinnunga is an Indian Professional Weightlifter from Aizawl, Mizoram. On 9 October 2018, Jeremy became India’s first gold medalist in Youth Olympics. Furthermore, the 15-year-old player achieved this title by lifting 274 Kg of weight in the game.
He remained just 1 kg short of the senior national record. Moreover, his father was also a professional boxer in his days. Earlier, Lalrinnunga used to practice at his father’s boxing academy but later it shut down due to financial issues.
In 2011, Jeremy’s father admitted him to the state academy in Aizawl. His weightlifting training began under a coach named “Malsawma”. In fact, nine months after, he was selected by the Army Sports Institute of Pune with two other boys.
The 15-year-old gold medalist started to train under the coach Zarzokima. In 2016, he won the gold medal at the sub-junior nationals in Patna and also set his first national record. Jeremy lifted 90kg of weight in snatch and 108kg in clean and jerk.
Family
Jeremy’s father, Lalmaithuava Ralte, works as a muster roll laborer at the Public Works Department in Aizawl. Lalmaithuava is a former national junior boxing champion. Jeremy’s mother’s name is Lalmuanpuii Ralte. He has four brothers named Jerry Ralte (boxer), Joseph Ralte (boxer), James Ralte (boxer), and Jacob Ralte. Jeremy’s eldest brother Jerry works at the Public Works Department in Aizawl.

The Indian weightlifter was born in 2003 in Aizawl, Mizoram, India. Therefore, Jeremy Lalrinnunga’s age is fifteen (15) years old, as of 2018. His mother “Lalmuanpuii” is a homemaker. Jeremy’s father “Lalneihtluanga” earns by repairing and lime-washing buildings. Earlier, he worked at the Public Works Department as a muster roll laborer.
Furthermore, Mr. Lalneihtluanga had a history of playing professional boxing. In fact, he was the national junior champion. He had a six-year winning streak at the senior level in the All-India YMCA Boxing Championship.

Jerry Lalrinnunga was born on October 26th, 2002 in the city of Aizawl, which is located in the state of Mizoram in India. His father, Lalneihtluanga, competed in boxing in the past. During the 1990s, Jeremy’s father won a national junior boxing championship and went unbeaten for a period of six consecutive years.
Professional Life
Jeremy competed in the Army Sports Institute trials and earned a spot at the Military Sports Academy. After looking at his performance at the World Youth Championships, where he earned a silver medal, they found Jeremy a strong competitor. Jeremy’s achievements also include silver medals which he earned at the 2017 Worlds & Asian Championships 2018 in the 56 kg weight event.
Career
At the age of 9, Jeremy was selected for talent scouting by the Army Sports Institute (ASI), Pune. He then continued his training in weightlifting at ASI and participated in various national and international weightlifting competitions. Later, Jeremy joined the Indian National Camp in Patiala where he did his training under his coach Vijay Sharma.
He then participated in various weightlifting competitions including World Youth Championships, Khelo India Youth Games, Asian Youth and Junior Championships, and Commonwealth Youth and Junior Championships.
