  • Jerry worked as a private maths tutor from the age of 14 years to the age of 30 years. During those days in Mumbai, popular maths tutors would only take students who scored above 80s but Jerry was against this mindset and taught students who were worst at mathematics. For doing this, he was famous as the ‘Duffer Sir.’
  • His mother had bipolar disorder and died when he was 35 years old. Jerry always longed for a normal mother. His father passed away before his mother.
  • At the age of 21, Jerry entered into journalism at a suggestion by a friend and his articles started being published in a newspaper. After this, he worked as a freelancer maths tutor and journalist.
  • He was a poor student in mathematics during his schooldays but Mrs Lidwin D’Souzaa, a maths teacher in his school helped him develop an interest in mathematics.
  • When Jerry was 26 years old, a friend asked him to teach at the SCM Sophia, a college for Social Communications Media as a replacement for a professor who was on leave for a few months.
  • Jerry belongs to a small minor community called the Goan Roman Catholics and grew up in Mahim, Mumbai.
