Early Life and Education
Jhulan has been born and raised in a middle-class household. She began watching cricket on TV at an early age and then began becoming interested in it. She credits inspired by her experience watching Australian cricketer Belinda Clark in the 1997 World Cup.
At 15 years old she began playing cricket. In the beginning, there were no facilities for cricket in her town of Chakdaha. Therefore, she had to go from Kolkata for cricket. She was a frequent participant at training facilities in Kolkata. Following having completed her course, she received the opportunity to play in the team of the state.
Career
In 2002 Jhulan Goswami was able to make his International debut as an ODI player game against England at 19 years old. The same month, i.e. 14 January 2002, she was awarded an official test cap, and she made her debut in the ODI against England.
From the beginning of her professional career, Jhulan was a hit with everyone who saw her abilities. Jhulan Goswami was selected Vice-captain for the Indian team for their tour to England. She played a key part in aiding India to achieve its first win in England.
She recorded career-best scores of 10/78 on one test and 5/45 in the second game. Jhulan Goswami also achieved her first half-century on tour. She was awarded the”Player of the Series award during that tour.
