Johnny Lever was the son of a Christian Telegu family from Andhra Pradesh. He was born on 14 August 1957. John Prakash Rao Janumala is his real name. He was born in Mumbai’s King’s Circle Area. He attended Andhra Education Society English Secondary School from 7th grade to 8th grade. However, financial problems prevented him from furthering his education.

He has been nominated for 13 Filmfare Awards in the Best Performance in a Comedy Role category and won twice for his roles in Deewana Makstana (1997), and Dulhe Raja (1998).
Career
Johnny began working in small jobs on the streets and roads of Mumbai. Yakutpara in Hyderabad, where he learned how to comedic act, was the place where he got his start. As a stand-up comedian, he started his career in entertainment. Johnny was a comedian who performed in the Tabassum Parades in comedy acts. He was soon a well-known musician and joined Kalyanji Anandji, the music director duo.
He appeared in numerous shows and on many world tours with them. His first major tour was in 1982 with Amitabh Bachchan. After that, he became more popular and left Hindustan Lever Ltd. in 1981.
