Kareena Kapoor was born on the 21st of September 1980 in Mumbai, India, to Randhir Kapoor and Babita. Both parents were famous actors, but her mother retired from acting following her marriage. She has an older sister who is named Karisma. Her parents are of Punjabi heritage from the father’s side, and from Sindhi as well as British descent from her mother’s lineage.

Born in a family of performers, Kareena was exposed to show business from the age of seven. She was influenced by actresses such as Meena Kumari or Nargis she aspired to be an actress.

Education

Kareena Kapoor began her education at the Jamnabai Narsee School in Mumbai and later finished her education at Welham Girls’ College, Dehradun. Following her graduation, Kareena also studied commerce at MithiBai College for two years. Then she attended Harvard Summer School in the United States to do a microcomputer course for three consecutive months. Then she also went into law school to earn a degree at Government Law College, Mumbai.

Career

Kareena Kapoor first made an appearance in the film about war called ‘Refugee’, which was released in 2000. At the age of 19, she played the part of the Bangladeshi girl who is in an affair with refugees which was played by Abhishek Bachchan. The film received a moderately positive response and won the actress widespread acclaim.

She was in 2001 when she was a part-time actress in the role of Tusshar Kapoor in Satish Kaushik’s film ‘Mujhe Kuch Kehna Hai. The film was a huge success and established Kapoor as a film star. In the same year, she appeared onscreen with stars such as Amitabh Bachchan Jaya Bachchan, and Shahrukh Khan as well as Kajol in the movie “Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham.
