Mithun was born Gourang Chakraborty on June 16, 1950, in Barisal, East Pakistan (now in Bangladesh) to a family of Hindu-Bengali. Presently, he resides in Ooty, Tamil Nadu with his family. He completed his education in Kolkata and then completed his degree in chemistry at Scottish Church College, Kolkata.

Mithun Chakraborty, After completing his education, he joined the Film and Television Institute of India located in Pune, India. Very few people were aware that prior to entering the film industry, the man was a Naxalite who was also a close friend of famous Naxalite Ravi Ranjan up to the mid-1970s.
Because of certain incidents at home, he was compelled to end his involvement in Naxal in 1970. The Naxal movement began to look to make a career in filmmaking.
Family and Childhood
Mithun Chakraborty’s father’s name was Basanta Kumar Chakraborty, and his Mother’s name was Shanti Chakraborty. Because of kidney failure, Basantakumar Chakraborty passed away in the year 2020. He was 95.
The health problems that accompany getting older impacted Basantakumar Chakraborty. Before he began making films, Mithun Chakraborty was a Naxalite. Tragically, however, his family members suffered an unimaginable tragedy when his sole brother was electrocuted and died in an accident.

Mithun Chakraborty was born on July 16, 1950. He was born in Kolkata, West Bengal, India. Basanta Kumar Chakraborty and Shanti Chakraborty are his parents. He graduated from school at Oriental Seminary. Mithun was awarded a B.Sc. in Chemistry at Scottish Church College in Kolkata. Then, he completed his schooling at the Film & Television Institute of India, Pune.
He was a Naxalite before he entered films. After having attended the school of Oriental Seminary, Mithun Chakraborty received a B.Sc. in Chemistry at Scottish Church College in Kolkata. Then, he was sent to the Film and Television Institute of India in Pune in India, where he earned his diploma.
