Mohammad Nawaz, a Pakistani cricketer, was born on 21 March 1994. He was one of the thirty-three players who received a central contract from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for the 2018-19 season in August 2018.
He is a member of Pakistan’s national cricket team and the Northern Pakistan Cup squad. Nawaz was also a member of the BPL squad for Rajshahi Royals during the 2019-2020 Bangladesh Premier League. At the 2018 Pakistan Cup, he was the highest wicket-taker in Baluchistan.
Mohammad Nawaz was raised in Rawalpindi by a Pashtun family. He is originally from Akbarpura (a village in northwest Peshawar), as he stated in a Youtube video. He married Izdihaar 2018, a South African diagnostic radiographer of Saudi Arabian heritage.
Domestic and T20 Franchise Career
Quetta Gladiators bought him for the 2016 Pakistan Super League. He took four wickets against Islamabad United in his debut match. He was the fourth-highest wicket-taker at the tournament. His performance during the PSL’s initial phase earned him a call-up for the 2016 ICC World Twenty20 team.
Mohammad Nawaz was retained by the team due to his performance during the 2016 season. He ended the season with 10 wickets from the 10 matches that he played. He was appointed vice-captain for Baluchistan’s 2018 Pakistan Cup squad in April 2018. With nine wickets in four matches, he was Baluchistan’s most successful bowler during the tournament.
On 29 February 2016, he made his Twenty20 International debut against the United Arab Emirates. After Shahid Afridi called him to bowl, he was run for 38 runs in 3 overs. Waqar Younis was the head coach and criticized Afridi for calling Nawaz up as a relatively young player. He also said that it was unfair and ‘destroyed’ the youngster’s confidence.
On 18 August 2016, he made his One Day International debut against Ireland, scoring a half-century. He was named man of the match in September 2016 during the final of the 2016-17 National T20 Cup.
