Mohanlal Viswanathan, born on 21 May 1960, is a prominent Indian actor, film producer, playback singer, film distributor, and director known by his mononymous stage name, Mohanlal. On 21 May 1960, Mohanlal Viswanathan was born in Elanthoor, a village located in the Pathanamthitta district of Kerala. His father, Viswanathan Nair, was a former bureaucrat and Law Secretary for the Kerala government, and his mother was Santhakumari.
Mohanlal had an elder brother named Pyarelal, who passed away during a military exercise in 2000. Interestingly, Mohanlal’s maternal uncle, Gopinathan Nair, named him Mohanlal, having initially considered the name Roshanlal.

After completing his schooling at Model School in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, Mohanlal attended Mahatma Gandhi College in the same city for his college education. He pursued a Bachelor of Commerce degree and completed the program.

Personal Life
On 28 April 1988, Mohanlal tied the knot with Suchitra, the daughter of K. Balaji, a notable film producer in the Tamil film industry. The couple has been blessed with two children, Pranav Mohanlal, and Vismaya Mohanlal. While Pranav has acted in a few films, including his debut in Mohanlal’s “Cinnamon” (2001), Mohanlal did not object to his son’s desire to pursue acting, understanding that children often have diverse ambitions.

Mohanlal’s acting journey began in 1978 with his debut film, “Thiranottam”, which he produced along with his friends Maniyanpilla Raju, Suresh Kumar, Unni, Priyadarshan, Ravi Kumar, and others. In the movie, Mohanlal portrayed the character of Kuttappan, a mentally challenged servant. However, due to censorship-related problems, the film was not released on time, and it took 25 years for it to finally hit the screens.
