Nancy Jewel McDonie’s parents are Richard Jewel McDonie and Lee Myeong-Ju. Her father, Richard, was of American nationality with Irish ancestry, while her mother, Lee, was Korean. Nancy also has a sister named Brenda Lee McDonie, who was born in 1998 and is currently a cellist.

When asked about her familiarity with South Korean culture, she explained that her mother informed her of the differences between Korean and American schooling.

Career
Nancy initially launched her career by auditioning for Korea’s Got Talent as a member of the hip-hop group, Cutie Pies. The group successfully progressed to the semi-final round in 2011. Prior to this, she had been a trainee at Nega Network. Once Nancy reached her teenage years, she began appearing on various television shows such as The Unlimited and Mak Ee Rae Show:
As part of the Mak Ee Rae Show, Nancy had the opportunity to visit the Philippines and Saipan while partnering with South Korean actress Kim Yoo-Jung. Later on, Nancy participated in Mnet’s reality survival program, Finding Momoland, where she competed as a contestant.
The show’s premise was centered around discovering members for a new group that would eventually be named Momoland. Its objective was to select the most suitable candidates for the group.
