Pinarayi Vijayan (born on 21 March 1944) is an Indian Politiker and the 12th (current) Chief Minister of Kerala from 25 May 2016. In addition, he is a member of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) Political Party. He was the longest-serving secretary of the Kerala State Committee between 1998 and 2015.

His birth date was May 24th, 1945. According to the official information, his birthday falls on the 21st of March April 1944. He is from a poor toddy tapper’s family from Pinarayi in the Kannur district.
He is the youngest child of father and mother Kalyani along with Mundayil Koran. After finishing his schooling, Vijayan worked as a handloom weaver for a year. He then enrolled in Government Brennen College, Thalassery for a pre-university program and graduated from the same institution. The wife of Kamala Vijayan, and they have one daughter as well as one son.
He began his journey to politics during his school time during his time at Government Brennen College. Pinarayi Vijayan was involved in the activities of the student union and became a member of the Communist Party in 1964. He was then appointed Kannur district secretary for the Kerala Students Federation (KSF) which later changed to known as the Students Federation of India (SFI).
He was eventually promoted to the post of state secretary and president of the SFI. Pinarayi Vijayan then joined the Kerala State Youth Federation (KSYF) which later changed to The Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI). He was appointed to the state president committee. In the course of his presidency, Vijayan was imprisoned for one and a half years for his political involvement. He also served as head of the Kerala state-owned cooperative bank.

As a Chief Minister
In a first for India in the history of the country, in a first for India, the Pinarayi Vijayan Ministry introduced an annual Progress Report to mark accountability and transparency for government officials.
The report card details the performance and evaluation of the ministry by the manifesto for elections released by the Left Democratic Front. His ministry set a precedent by delivering 570 of the 600 promises to voters made in the manifesto for the elections by November 2020.
