Plot

Minal, Falak, and Andrea, three independent women living together in New Delhi, have an encounter with three affluent men, Raunak, Vishwajyoti, and Rajveer Singh, during which they share some drinks. Suddenly, the men rush Rajveer to the nearest hospital due to a severe head injury. Meanwhile, Minal, Falak, and Andrea return to their apartment in a taxi, appearing disoriented and suggesting their involvement in the incident.

As they try to move forward from that fateful night, Minal catches the attention of Deepak, an observant elderly man in their neighborhood, who senses something amiss. Complications arise when Rajveer’s friend, Ankit, threatens them, seeking revenge for Minal’s actions that led to Rajveer’s injury.

In the early days of March 2016, Amitabh Bachchan disclosed that he was filming a movie in Delhi. Speculation arose, suggesting that the film would be called “Eve.” However, on March 13, Bachchan took to Twitter to dispel these rumors and officially announced that the film would be titled Pink.

Filming

The principal photography of the film began in New Delhi on International Women’s Day, 2016. The looks of Amitabh Bachchan in the movie were created by Shoojit Sircar however the idea of wearing the mask was suggested by Amitabh Bachchan since Delhi is very polluted.

Marketing

Shoojit Sircar and Amitabh Bachchan engaged with their fans on Twitter, posing a question about the significance of the film’s title “Pink.” They sought the audience’s thoughts and interpretations regarding the meaning behind the chosen name. In parallel, the Times of India organized a contest where participants had the opportunity to meet Amitabh Bachchan as the grand prize.

The film underwent exclusive screenings for the Rajasthan Police to sensitize and educate them on women’s rights and dignity. Additionally, it received a special screening at Rashtrapati Bhavan and was extended an invitation to be screened at the United Nations headquarters in New York City.

On its opening day in India, the film “Pink” recorded an impressive collection of around ₹4.32 crore. By the end of its first weekend, the film’s earnings had soared to approximately ₹21.51 crore. After a successful run of 7 days, the domestic box office collection of “Pink” reached ₹35.91 crore. Remarkably, within the first 10 days of release, the film achieved a milestone by grossing ₹50 crore in India.
