Qasim Akram (born on 1st December 2002) is a Pakistani cricketer. His Twenty20 debut was on the 30th of September 2020, playing for Central Punjab in the 2020-21 National T20 Cup. Prior to making his Twenty20 debut, He was included as a player for Pakistan’s team in the 2020 Cricket World Under-19 Cup.

He made his debut in the first class on October 25, 2020, and also in the team of Central Punjab, in the 2020-21 Quaid-e Azam Trophy. In December of 2020, He was nominated to be one of the men’s emerging cricketers of the Year at The 2020 PCB Awards.

On January 20, 2021, the player got his name in Central Punjab’s team for the 2020-21 Pakistan Cup. It was the List A debut on 8 January 2021, playing for Central Punjab, in the 2020-21 Pakistan Cup. On the 22nd of January in 2021, the batsman scored his first century at the age of 108 in List A cricket, with an unbeaten total of 108.

Early Life

Qasim was born to a Punjabi family. He grew up in Punjab. Qasim is the brother of the former Pakistani player Wasim Akram.

Career

In the year 2016, Qasim played his first game for the team Lahore under 16s in the PCB-PEPSI Cricket Stars U-16 2-Day Tournament 2016. His first appearance in the first class on the 25th of October, 2020, as well for Central Punjab, in the 2020-21 Quaid-e-Azam Cup.

Then, in the month of January 20, he was selected to Central Punjab’s team to play in the 2020-21 Pakistan Cup. On January 8, 2021, the player made his List A debut for Central Punjab in the 2020-21 Pakistan Cup. He scored his century debut on the 22nd of January during List A cricket. He scored a record-breaking 108 runs.

Domestic Career

He began playing his cricket at home in the team of Central Punjab in the National T20 Cup 2020-21. He played the First Class debut for Central Punjab in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy of 2020-21. In 2021, having been selected to the CP squad for the Pakistan Cup, he made his debut List A debut and made his 100th century, with an impressive 108 runs. Qasim was selected for his franchise Karachi Kings franchise for the PSL 2021 season. He was also a part of the team in the PSL 7.

International Career

He was the first to be selected for the Pakistan team for the ICC U-19 Cricket World Cup 2020. In the month of April 2021, He was appointed the captain of the Pakistan squad for the series they played against Bangladesh. In the following year, he was also part of the Pakistan Shaheens squad for their game in the series against Sri Lanka.
