Childhood and Early Life
He was initially an assistant director on the feature film Vedikkai Manidhargal. He was also given the chance to be a part of dialogue under the name of R. Moorthy. Then, he joined as an assistant to K. Bhagyaraj. At the time the man earned approximately Rs 6000 per month through dubbing for different artists.
Career
Parthiban started appearing in Tamil films in the year 1981. His first film in which he acted was Ranuva Veeran. His next film that was successful was Dhavani Kanavugal, released in 1984. He played an officer in the post office. The year 1992 saw R. Parthiban as part of his film Unnai Vazathi Padugiren along with South Indian actresses Suman Ranganathan and Mohini.
In 1999, the film Tata Birla came out as his comedic film. As a supporting actor, R. Parthiban appeared in the film Irathil in the year 2010. He was awarded the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor in the film Irathil Oruvan. Parthiban also won the Filmfare Award Tamil Award for this film.
He was a part-time actor in the film comedy Naanum Rowdy Padhaan where he played the part of a comedy villain. He also played minor roles in films like Maaviran Kittu (2016) and Koditta, Idangalai Nirapuga (2017).
