“Raazi” is an Indian Hindi-language spy action thriller film released in 2018. Directed by Meghna Gulzar, the film was produced by Vineet Jain, Karan Johar, Hiroo Yash Johar, and Apoorva Mehta. It was jointly produced under the banners of Junglee Pictures and Dharma Productions.

It tells the true story of an Indian Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) agent who, at her father’s behest, gets married into a family of military officers in Pakistan. Her mission is to gather and relay crucial information to India before the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971. The film serves as an adaptation of this gripping tale.
Lieutenant General Nikhil Bakshi, an officer in the Indian Army, addresses a group of Indian soldiers aboard the INS Viraat. He recounts the remarkable tale of a woman’s courageous exploits as an undercover agent for the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), India’s external intelligence agency, in Pakistan.
The story takes us back to the events leading up to the Bangladeshi War of Independence in 1971. Hidayat Khan, an Indian freedom fighter, assumes the role of an informant for the Indian government. Aware of his impending death from lung cancer, Hidayat wishes to carry on the family tradition of serving the country by recruiting his 20-year-old daughter, Sehmat, as an agent.

Starting in 2014, Priti Sahani, the president of Junglee Pictures, embarked on a mission to secure the film rights to Harinder S. Sikka’s 2008 novel “Calling Sehmat.” The novel intricately narrates the true account of an Indian woman who becomes a secret agent, getting married to a Pakistani army officer.
Her role is to gather confidential information and provide it to the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) before the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971. Priti Sahani’s persistent efforts were aimed at bringing this gripping story to the big screen.
The music and background score of the film is composed by Shankar–Ehsaan–Loy while the lyrics are penned by Gulzar. The songs featured in the film are sung by Arijit Singh, Harshdeep Kaur, Vibha Saraf, Shankar Mahadevan, and Sunidhi Chauhan.
The eagerly awaited first poster of “Raazi” made its debut on 9 April 2018, shared through the film’s official Twitter handle. Just a day later, on 10 April 2018, the trailer of the film was unveiled, creating further excitement among the audience. Finally, on 11 May 2018, “Raazi” was released in theaters.
