Childhood and Early Life
Ramya was born on 15 September 1970 into a Tamil-speaking family with Krishnan the elder brother of Maya. She is the daughter of the legendary Tamil comic Cho Ramaswamy. Ramya started her instruction on Bharathanatyam, Western, and Kuchipudi dance forms. She has also given numerous stage performances.
Film Career
Ramya’s debut Telugu movie was Bhale Mithrulu (1986). Her fame was boosted by Kasinadhuni’s Sutradharulu which was released in 1989. She was a top actor in the Telugu industry, along with Soundarya, Meena, Roja, and Nagma in the late 1990s.
Her breakthrough, she was able to make her mark through K. Raghavendra Rao’s directorial films where she was portrayed as an opulent romantic diva in the season due to movies that had great success like Alludugaru (1990), Allari Mogudu (1992), Major Chandrakanth (1993) as well as Mohan Babu and Allari Priyudu (1993) together with Rajasekhar.
She played an adoring spouse of Sri Annamacharya and performed in the role of Nagarjuna on the big screen in Annamayya (1997). She has worked alongside some of the top Telugu actors like N. T. Rama Rao, and Akkineni Nageswara.
