The film’s background score was composed by Sam C. S., while the music was created by G. V. Prakash Kumar, Dharan Kumar, and OfRo. Rudhran hit theaters on 14 April 2023, coinciding with the Tamil New Year festival.

Plot

Rudhran, an IT professional residing in Chennai, leads a contented life with his father Devaraj, who runs a transport agency, and his mother Indrani. His life takes a joyful turn when he falls in love with Ananya, a lab technician. The two tie the knot and become parents to a daughter named Anya. However, their happiness is abruptly shattered when Devaraj falls victim to the deceitful actions of his friend Das.

Devastated by the loss of his father and burdened by the financial crisis, Rudhran embarks on a journey to London to resolve the looming issues. During his stay there, he receives distressing news of his mother’s passing and the mysterious disappearance of Ananya. Filled with fear and anxiety, especially considering Ananya’s eight-month pregnancy, Rudhran seeks assistance from the police.

Production

‘Soppana Sundari’ marks the second collaboration between Raghava Lawrence and R. Sarathkumar, following their first venture, ‘Kanchana’. This film also serves as the directorial debut for producer S. Kathiresan. The first look poster for the film was unveiled on 23 June 2022, building anticipation among the audience.

Additionally, a promotional glimpse of the film was released on 29 October 2022, offering a sneak peek into the movie. The shooting for ‘Soppana Sundari’ concluded on 5 March 2022, signaling the completion of principal photography. To further generate excitement, the trailer for the film was launched on 5 April 2023, providing audiences with a comprehensive review of the movie.

Music

V. Prakash Kumar composed the songs for the film, and Dharan Kumar recreated the remix version of the song “Paadatha Pattellam” from Veera Thirumagan. Notably, Dharan Kumar had previously collaborated with singers Sathyaprakash and Nithyashree Venkataramanan for the Carvaan Lounge Tamil segment.

Release

Initially slated for a 23rd December 2022 release, the film encountered a delay in its VFX works, leading to a rescheduled release date. Ultimately, the film hit the screens on 14th April 2023, coinciding with the auspicious occasion of Puthandu.

Home Media

Netflix and Sun NXT acquired the post-theatrical streaming rights of the film, ensuring its availability to a wider audience through their platforms. Additionally, the satellite rights of the film were obtained by Sun TV, further expanding its reach through television broadcasts.
