Saba Azad, born Saba Singh Grewal on 1 November 1985, is an Indian actress and theatre director. Madboy/Mink is her half in the Mumbai-based electro-funk group Madboy/Mink. The indie film Dil Kabaddi (2008) was her Bollywood debut. She played Raaga, one of the lead roles. Her leading role in Mujhse friendship Karoge (2011), a romantic comedy film about love and romance, is well-known.

In 2016, she played the role of Dingo in Ladies Room, a Y-Films web series. Saba Azad, also known as Saba Sultana Azad or Saba Singh Grewal, is an Indian actress, theatre director, and musician. Her most notable roles include Dil Kabaddi and Mujhse friendship Karoge. Azad has also sung in Bollywood films such as Dil Kabaddi, Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota, and Karwaan.

Early Life

Azad was the daughter of a Punjabi father and a Kashmiri mom. She is the niece theatre legend Safdar Hashmi. Azad was born into a theatre family. She has been performing in Safdar Hashmi’s theatre group Jana Natya Manch’s stage productions with Habib Tanvir and MK Raina since she was a youngster.

Saba was also trained in Odissi, classical ballet, and jazz as well as contemporary dance styles. She traveled with Kiran Segal (her Odissi Guru), and performed all over the country, including in Canada, England, and Nepal.

Family

Saba was born to a Sikh family in Defense Colony in New Delhi. His whole family is Sikhism. Saba doesn’t believe in any particular religion, but he does share a common view about all religions. Saba’s grandparents were Satinder Kaur Grewal and Inder Mohan Singh Grewal.

Her father is Professor PM, Singh Grewal. Saba’s mother is Snehala Hashimi Grewal. She is a writer, poetr, and editor. Samar Singh Grewal, an older brother, is the other member of the household.

Personal Life

Saba Azad was once in a relationship with Imaad Shah (an actor and musician), but they ended their relationship. She was seen walking hand–in–hand with Hrithik Roshan in 2022. The paparazzi snapped the duo outside a Bandra cafe.

Career

Saba has appeared in numerous Bollywood films and albums. She made her Hindi debut in 2008 with Dil Kabaddi, starring alongside Rahul Bose, Konkona Sen Sharma, and Irrfan Khan. Guroor is also a short film she has done. It was shown at numerous international film festivals in New York City and Florence.

2011 saw Saba star in the romantic comedy movie Mujhse Fraaandship Karaoge. Her commercials included spots for various brands such as Cadbury, Ponds, and Kit Kat. She opened The Skins Theatre in 2010 and directed Lovepuke.
